'The colour is so-so, but not so the wine. It's energising, buoyed by refreshing acidity as much as juicy, tangy fruit. Neatly set into a medium-bodied palate with an array of cherries, raspberries and woodsy spices, with some savoury touches, it's neatly composed and satisfying. 'Selected blocks of fruit from a vineyard in Yarra Glen. Cherry and strawberry compote. The aromas remind me of a dried, smoked fruit concoction made for Christmas in Poland, a compote. If I may add a personal touch here. It’s a seductive combination of sweet, salty and umami. Dried mushrooms, game meat, a bouquet of stewed spices and herbs. Touch of dusty potpourri represents the tannin feel and the prevailing umami flavour follows the acidity line. It’s light but with a pleasant spicy pinch. Bright red fruits shape this wine, which is otherwise very savoury. Mouthwatering and makes me think of food.'
