We won the Best Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir Trophy
That's right, another *bleep* trophy!! Last night we picked up the Best Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir trophy at the Australian Pinot Noir Challenge for our 2018 Collection Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir - for the second year in a row. And good news - we are releasing it especially for you!
We love this wine - since our first vintage in 2016, this has been a gem in our portfolio for its unique Mornington characteristics, complexity and depth of flavour. Our winemaker Pete said these awards are a reflection of the major efforts to improve our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyard in Bittern, near the shores of Westernport, at the Handpicked winemaking HQ.
It’s the second year we have taken out the Mornington Peninsula trophy, winning last year with its 2017 Collection Pinot Noir, which went on to win the Best Wine of Show in the 2018 Australian Pinot Noir Challenge.
“I’m particularly pleased that our 2018 Pinot Noir was acknowledged with the same award as the 2017 vintage; it proves consistency of style and quality of the wine. It also shows consistency in the vineyard, which has been key to this success. We’ve put so much into the organics program at Capella Vineyard and it’s paying off in improved vineyard health and fruit quality" - Pete Dillon.
Congratulations to Pete and the vineyard team. This big win comes off the back of three trophies at the 2019 Royal Melbourne Wine Awards last month for the Handpicked’s 2017 Single Vineyard Capella Chardonnay. If you haven’t tried our Pinots and Chardonnays by now - stock up quick for Christmas.
