Clear, bright, pale lemon in colour. Aromas of white flowers and chamomile. The palate is medium-bodied and textured with an appealing waxy character and flavours of unripe nectarine and spicy notes.
Vintage 2017 was generally cool and harvests were around two weeks later than average in most areas, allowing a good ripening period to produce fruit of high quality and well-balanced flavour and acid.
The fruit was handpicked in late February in warm, dry conditions. It was chilled then whole-bunch pressed and fermented partly in older oak and partly in stainless steel temperature-controlled tank. The wine was matured for six months, partly in tank and partly in older small-format French oak.
The freedom to experiment with alternative varieties and winemaking techniques. Who knows what the next Trial Batch will be?
