The finer details
Introduction This is a savoury style of Rosé with captivating fruit flavours and excellent texture.
The Story It began many moons ago when our customers first asked for a rosé wine and we challenged Handpicked chief winemaker Gary Baldwin to make the sort of wine everyone is clamouring for. Region Yarra Valley, Victoria
This fruit was grown at our Highbow Hill Vineyard in Yarra Glen, where the soils are sandy loam over clay and gravel over Yarra Valley mudstone. The Pinot Noir vines were planted in 1997.
Vine to Glass The fruit was picked at full ripeness in late February. A portion of juice was fermented in stainless steel while the other portion was fermented with the skins from recently pressed Marsanne grapes to give the wine extra body and texture. There was a short maturation in tank and French oak barriques (75% new). The wine was bottled in the July following harvest.
Tasting Notes This Rosé has gorgeous berry and spice aromas and flavours. What sets it apart is its excellent texture and luxurious mouthfeel with a savoury edge. Serve chilled and share with friends on its own or try with gravlax or cucumber sandwiches.
